Adjusting for age effects in cross-sectional distributions

چکیده
Income and wealth differ over the life cycle. In cross-sectional distributions of income or wealth, classical inequality measures such as the Gini, could therefore find substantial inequality even if everyone have the same life-time income or wealth. We describe the AG index (Almås and Mogstad, 2011) which is a generalization of the classical Gini index with attractive properties, and we provide the adgini command which provides the AG index as well as the classical Gini index. The adgini command provides options to produce other well known age-adjusted inequality measures, such as the Paglin-Gini (Paglin, 1975) and the Wertz-Gini (Wertz, 1977), and provides efficient estimation of the classical Gini coefficient.

Whether regular working hours can minimize the blood biochemical effects of shift working: a cross-sectional study in Iran
Abstract Background: Irregular Working hours, including night work and shift work, have been found to be associated with alteration in various levels of biochemical factors. And some studies have showed association between shift work and blood biochemical disturbances in blood. In this epidemiological study we investigated, whether regular schedule of working hours can minimize the associ...
متن کاملInfluence of age on practice effects in longitudinal neurocognitive change.
OBJECTIVE Longitudinal comparisons of neurocognitive functioning often reveal stability or age-related increases in performance among adults under about 60 years of age. Because nearly monotonic declines with increasing age are typically evident in cross-sectional comparisons, there is a discrepancy in the inferred age trends based on the two types of comparisons. The current research investiga...
متن کاملCross-sectional and longitudinal association between hemoglobin concentration and hypertension
We investigated the cross-sectional and longitudinal associations between hemoglobin concentration and hypertension in a Korean population.Between 2006 and 2013, we examined 4899 participants with mean age of 56.6 years (range 35-88 years) from a rural community. We excluded 298 participants with a history of myocardial infarction or stroke and 264 participants with very low hemoglobin levels (...
متن کاملA cross-sectional study on serum high-sensitivity C-reactive protein level and shift work among reproductive age women
Background: Among the inflammatory factors, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) is one of the strongest predictors of cardiovascular disease. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship of serum hs-CRP level with shift work among reproductive age women. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted from September 2017 to May 2018 in three cities in Mazandaran Province, North of ...
متن کاملInequality, Mobility and Income Distribution Comparisons
This paper examines the relationship between the cross-sectional and lifetime income distributions using a simple model of relative income mobility. It asks whether cross-sectional comparisons between countries can provide a good indication of lifetime inequality differences if income mobility is similar, and whether lifetime inequality increases by less than cross-sectional inequality if the l...
